TORRE VELASCA
The facade of the Torre Velasca reflects a very strong image, well expressed in the Brutalist language; therefore, in the redevelopment project, it sufficed to restore it to its original image and color. However, the restoration work was not solely aesthetic but also structural. The real design intervention instead concerned the “base” of the Tower, long perceived by citizens as a “non-place”
that inevitably prevented a proper osmotic relationship between the building and its neighborhood. We therefore designed a space of respect for the Tower itself, a sort of “secular forecourt” that at the same time would exalt its dimensional and architectural aspects, fostering the right continuous interplay with the city.
